Security Menu Framework Overview

   PROIV Aurora Help

The PROIV Aurora Security Menu Framework is a security system that determines who can access what, and when in a PROIV Aurora-based system.

System users in PROIV Aurora are called Operators and are assigned to particular Operator Groups. An Operator Group is a way of categorising users. For example, members of an accounts department could be assigned to a Group called ‘Accounts’.

These Groups are then assigned Security Profiles (many Operator Groups can share the same Security Profile), which determine what the Operator can access in PROIV Aurora. For example, the ‘Accounts’ Group could be assigned an ‘Accounting’ Security Profile which would provide members of that Group access to the accounting functionality in the system.

The main menu structure is generally defined once by the system administrator and the Security Profiles are used to determine what the user can see on the system menu. All Security Profiles initially have a Logon menu defined. Any further Menu Options and submenus must be enabled or disabled to control what appears or hidden.

Further security granularity is available through the use of Access Profiles. By assigning an Access Profile to an Operator Group, you can configure when Operators can access the system. For example, you can set up an Access Profile to enable a particular Operator Group to only view the accounts at the year end.

Note: PROIV Aurora is not restricted to work only with the PROIV Security Menu Framework. It can be configured to work with other third party security and menu systems.
