Alternate Index Mapping |
DEVELOPER |
Click on the Alternate Index Mapping icon in the File Definition toolbar.
You can create alternate index maps for CISAM and relational database files. In the case of relational database files, the maps should be used to reference views (normally in look mode, but dependent on the database used.)
The alternate map allows you to access a file via alternative key field(s). When you are creating a new fragment to add a File Accessor to a function, the list of available files will include all alternate index maps.
Map ID - Enter an ID for a new map, or select an existing map from the drop-down list of existing map ids. If creating a new map, enter a description of the map in the field to the right of the ID. The Map ID is used as the file name wherever the map is used in PROIV functions.
Delete Map - Click to remove the current index map.
Rename Map - Click to rename the current index map.
Insert - Click to select variables to be inserted before the selected position in an existing map. Select the required variable(s) from the window and click Add.
Add - Click to select variables to be used as key fields in an existing map. Select the required variable(s) from the window and click Add.
Delete - Click to remove the selected variable from the map.
Resize - This allows you to change the size of the key mask for the selected variable. The mask can then substring the field selected or overlap other field(s) to create a key. In the Resize window, enter the new mask size and click OK.
Children - Click to maintain children for the selected map (RDBMS file definitions only).
