PROIV Performance Monitor Overview
PROIV Performance Monitor (PPM) is a seamless integrated platform in PROIV Control Panel to monitor the performance of your entire application ecosystem. You can view and analyze the performance of PROIV components such as SOAP web services, RESTful web services, Gateway, OpenClient, and Virtual Machine that are involved in a transaction. It provides an end-to-end view of a transaction by allowing you to explore areas of your application stack which consumed most time.

Key features:
PPM is a web-based monitoring system that allows you to view and analyze performance of a live interactive session and web-service activity.
Provides an interface to enable / disable PROIV components of your choice for performance monitoring. If a component is enabled, performance data is generated not only for the selected component but also its related downstream components. For example, if a SOAP web service is enabled for monitoring, its downstream components such as Gateway and Virtual Machine are automatically set for monitoring because the SOAP web service has to pass through Gateway and Virtual Machine to complete the transaction.
Relational Database to store the performance data that is generated by the components.
PPM makes use of APDEX (Application Performance Index), an industry standard method for measuring application performance.
Define parameters to identify the processes and components that consumed the most amount of time.
Set alerts/automatic actions to trigger when APDEX score breach set targets.
Maintain historic data by configuring retention time. This data can also be exported to a local file system.
PPM Dashboards are used to visually represent the performance of an application, a specific component, or a key business operation. Information is presented using visualizations, such as charts, graphs, and tables. These components display the data in a compact and visual manner to help the dashboard user identify trends and make informed business decisions.
Events and Transactions
Events
An event is an action or occurrence within a PROIV component. Whenever an action is triggered in the PROIV component that is enabled for performance monitoring, it generates performance data and stores this in the PPM database.

PROIV transactions are classified as Service Oriented and Interactive, the list is as follows:

MFC activities (in response to actions requested in the MFC client, Note: MFC does not log activities directly, instead control passes through to the Virtual Machine which in turn logs the performance data)
