Click Settings in the expanded menu.
Make your changes to the settings.

Standalone Template A small 'loading...' window is shown and the OCX is loaded in its own application window.

Description |
Service Name |
The name given to the service for purposes of identification. |
Service Description |
A brief description of the service. |
OCX Client Template Page |
The name of the template that will execute the OCX client. Two templates are supplied with the Client Administration: Default Template The OCX is embedded in a standard browser window. |
Open In New Window |
Whether the service will open in a new browser window, or replace the contents of the current browser window. |
Service Encryption |
Whether the service will be encrypted (PIV version 501) or unencrypted (PIV version 500). |
OCX |
The OCX CAB file that will be used for this service. |
OCX Width in Pixels |
The width in pixels of the OCX client. |
OCX Height in Pixels |
The height in pixels of the OCX client. |
OCX Background Color |
The background color of the OCX client. |
Configuration details for Host settings

Description |
Command to Run PROIV Kernel |
The command to execute in the host to run the PROIV kernel. |
Use Proxy |
Whether a proxy will be used for connection. |
Proxy Name |
Select from the drop down the name of the proxy to be used for the connection. This will be disabled unless the 'Use Proxy' check box is ticked. The drop down is populated from the list of defined proxies see Managing Proxy Connectors. |
Host |
The IP address or system name of the host machine where the kernel will run. If the kernel is running as a service on the local machine, set this value to localhost. This field will be disabled when the 'Use Proxy' check box is ticked. |
Port |
The port on which the telnet service will listen for connections. The default value is 23. In most cases, it is not necessary to change this value. This field will be disabled when the 'Use Proxy' check box is ticked. |
Select Connection Type |
Standard TCP Connection The connection to the host is via TCP/IP. This is the default connection. Secure Connection If you want to make an SSL connection and your remote host supports it, check this box. Connect via SSH tunnel Enforces a Secure Shell connection to the host. |
Auto Login |
Direct Server Connection. Automatic Login. Terminal Login. Raw Mode |
Prompt For Security |
Whether the PROIV client will prompt the user for user name and password at connection. |
Show Login |
Whether all the host text will be shown in the kernel startup window up to the point where the PROIV Virtual Machine signals it has started. You can use this information to debug a login sequence that has failed. |
User |
The user name to be sent after the user name prompt has been located. If you select Prompt for Security, this value is passed to the security dialog box. |
Password |
The password to be sent after the password prompt has been located. If you select Prompt for Security, this value is passed to the security dialog box. |
Remember Username/Password |
Whether the User name/Password are saved for re-use. |

Additional Parameters for Terminal Login |
The command line parameters that need to be passed to the terminal emulator when used for connecting to a host. You may enter the location of an automated log-in script (if the third party software allows it). Any parameters using a third party executable may be entered in this field. See the user documentation for the terminal emulation software you are using for more information. |
Terminal Command |
The program name of the terminal emulation software you are using. For example, C:\Program Files\qws3270Plus\qws3270p.exe. (This is a program name for a terminal emulation program called QWS Plus.) |
Terminal Window Title |
The text that you would like to see in the window title area of the PROIV Client. The text will appear after a connection is made. |
Terminal Type Presented to Host |
The terminal type that will be presented to the host telnet service. For example, for an IBM 3270 model 2 terminal, use IBM3270-2. If you are using a script for the QWS Plus application, add -z to the front-end of the parameter string, for example: zIBM-3278g NOTES: The Terminal type presented for connection to a VMS host must not be PROIV. The VMS host must recognize the terminal type. Use a specific terminal type, for example, VT100. |
Terminal Port |
The port address that the third party 3270 terminal emulation software. Will use to communicate with the PROIV Client. The default port number is 24. |
Configuration details for Application Settings

User Prompt |
The string to search for before sending the user name to the host. |
Password Prompt |
The string to search for before sending the password to the host. |
Command Prompt |
The string to search for before sending the command to run PROIV Virtual Machine defined in the Host settings (remote connections only). |
Timeout |
The time in seconds to wait for a successful connection to a PROIV Virtual Machine before displaying a telnet window for manual login. |
Default Image Extension |
The default extension to be used for all graphic files. The extension is appended to the filename entered for Icons, Wallpaper, and Button controls. |
Alternate Image Extensions |
A list, separated by commas, of alternate image extensions used by the PROIV Client when an image file cannot be located. For example, if IMAGE.BMP is not found, the PROIV Client searches for IMAGE.GIF and then IMAGE.JPG. If this field contains GIF, JPG, then an unsuccessful search for IMAGE.BMP will trigger a search for IMAGE.GIF, and then IMAGE.JPG. |
Directory Containing Images |
The directory the PROIV client uses to locate images. This directory defaults to the PROIV.EXE base directory. A URL can be specified to pull graphics files from a network server. |
Alternate Image Search Directory Paths |
A list, separated by semi colons, of the paths used by the PROIV client when an image file cannot be located in the images directory. The PROIV Client looks for image files by searching for the 'Default Image Extension' in the default directory named in 'Directory Containing Images'. If the image is not found, the client searches for an 'Alternate Image Extension' in the default directory. Next, the client searches for the 'Default Image Extension' in the 'Alternate Image Search Directory Paths' and then the 'Alternate Image Extension' in the 'Alternate Image Search Directory Paths'. |
Application Icon File |
The icon used for the top-left of PROIV windows. This icon file must be present on all clients. |
User Configuration |
Whether the service will present a user with an interface to the configuration options. |
Enable Single Click |
Whether to use single-click activation of icons, s, and list boxes. |
Hide Top Line |
Whether to hide the top two lines of a main window. Use this feature to conserve screen space. It is usually used in conjunction with the 'Display Function Titles' check box. |
Display Function Titles |
Whether to display the function title in the Main Window title bar. |
Use Calendar Control |
Whether to enable the standard Windows Calendar Control for input of dates. This is enabled on a global basis and does not require any application changes. You can select or de-select this option only when disconnected from PROIV. Once a connection is active, you cannot change the setting. The default setting for the option is No. Any DATE or DATE4 input field would trigger the use of the date control if you check this option. What appears in a date field depends on the Short Date format set in the Windows Regional settings. The date will also conform to the language settings. |
Enable Field Attributes |
Whether to display fields and formats using attributes defined in the PROIV function definition. When this is selected the Reverse Video attribute is disabled. |
PROIV Arrow Keys |
Whether the left and right arrow keys to move from Field to Field in a PROIV screen or window. It is recommended that this option not be used with new applications. This option is provided for compatibility with a version 4.0 GUI-Client. Not supported on Mainframe. |
PROIV Colors |
Used when the PROIV client is to display fields and formats in colors defined in the PROIV function specification. |
Flat Paging Area |
Whether to display the paging area as a flat paging area. Uncheck to display the paging area as 3D. |
Use Binary Telnet |
Whether the PROIV client will use binary telnet negotiations. Set this only if the host defaults the telnet connection to binary mode (for example, VMS, Sequent). (Binary is the default for Mainframe.) |
Show Check Boxes as Tick |
Whether the PROIV will display check boxes as standard Windows check boxes. The next setting modifies this behaviour. |
Ignore Check Box Sizes |
Whether to display all PROIV check boxes as Windows check boxes, regardless of the defined size of the PROIV check box. Only effective if the 'Show Check Boxes as Tick' option is selected. |
Focus Rectangle On Radio Buttons |
Whether to display focus rectangles around radio s. |
Auto Sense URL |
Determines whether URLs are automatically detected and when the text is clicked on a screen, the website appears in your browser.. |
Show Connecting Message Box |
Whether the connecting message box should be displayed when clients connect to the PROIV application server. |
Font Height |
The point size of the font displayed. |
Configuration details for Internet Settings

Web Site Address |
The http location on the Internet from where the images will be downloaded. For example, http:\\www.proiv.com |
Local Cache Directory |
The path name to a directory to use for graphics caching. |
Graphics Cache Option |
Select one of the 3 options from the drop down. Always - Images are always downloaded from the website and do not check the timestamps. If newer - Timestamps on the files located in the local directory and on the website are compared each time the program is run to see if a new file exists on the internet.. Only if it does not exist - Once a file has been downloaded, no further attempt is made to download it again. |
