A PROIV service is the collection of information required to make a PROIV client server connection, including the PROIV settings for various behavioural and visual options. Previously this configuration information, was held in a variety of places including the client PIV file and the proivconsts.ini.

Many of the configuration options are unchanged, and some have been added for the Client Administration. For the purposes of the Client Administration all configuration settings have been amalgamated into a new PIV format (version V500/V501).  The embedded OCX in a user's browser will request its PROIV service configuration in the form of the new PIV when initialising.
