NT Server

If PROIV is installed on an NT Server, you can use the PROIV NT Service (Task) Manager administration tool to reference the logical devices table in the pro4v[n].ini file. The example shown below shows the logical device LP0 =  \\irvnet\hp6p and LP1 = \\PC-MIKEM\HP DESKJET specified in the pro4v[n].ini file and referenced in the PROIV NT Service Manager. (See the PROIV Administration Tools for more information on the Service Manager tool.)

pro4v[n].ini File and PROIV NT Service Manager Tool

If a report device defined in the System Default ($SYSDEF) screen is a logical device defined in the PROIV NT Service Manager, both SPOOL OK and QUE NAME flags must be set to Y as shown  below.

System Defaults ($SYSDEF)screen (Logical device definition)

Notice that the Logical Device name defined in the PROIV NT Service Manager does not have to map to the same kernel Logical Device name in $SYSDEF. PROIV resolves the physical Report Device by referencing the printer table in the pro4v[n].ini file, which the PROIV NT Service Manager updates.
