Directing Output to an Attached Printer
Attached printers are used on character based terminals. PROIV can direct the output of a report to an attached printer by defining the report device to be AP in either the spooler definition section of the System Defaults screen, the Report/Update options screen, or by setting the system variable @RPTOPT or SET_RPTOPT prior to calling the report.
Do not direct reports to the AP report device when printing via the PROIV Client. Instead, use the PROIV Client printing options. See PROIV Client Printing Options.
Some attached printers require a specific command to attach them to a terminal. As different terminal types may needed to send different command, these commands are Terminal-Type based and are entered in the Terminal Characteristics Attributes Definition ($CRT) screen in the fields described below.

This value defines the 'AP' printer when it is called as part of spooling. Not all terminals support 'AP' printing. PROIV does not support 'AP' printing for those terminals where the hexadecimal representation of the commands necessary to attach the printer is more than 10 characters. |
DETACH PRTR |
A10 |
Enter a hexadecimal representation of the system printer commands to detach the terminal printer. |
