Forms Designer

The Forms Designer allows a developer to maintain the User Interface (UI) of an application.  It provides an interactive WYSIWYG design environment that accurately shows how an interface will look at run-time without the need to compile the function.

Once a function is selected its UI is retrieved from the dictionary as a parts list.  The parts list represents the visual portion of the function’s formal Business Process Specification Language (BPSL).  The UI parts list contains all the controls necessary for the Forms Designer to render the interface.

As the Forms Designer receives the parts list each part is validated and rendered on the form.  When all forms have been constructed the session begins with the top level form being displayed and the Forms Designer Workspace being available for use.

After all changes to the UI have been completed you may save the function.  Saving rebuilds the function’s BPSL and sends it to the connected repository where it is stored.
