The Advanced page holds more advanced connection configuration options. Just like the Host Connection page, some fields will not accept input based on the type of connection selected on the Host page.

Description

User Prompt

The text displayed by the remote host when asking a user to log into the operating system. This is the text that would be seen if a user manually connected into that machine using the program or script entered into the Terminal Command field, before the user would enter his or her user name.

Password Prompt

The text displayed by the remote host used to ask a user to enter his or her operating system user password.

Command Prompt

The text displayed by the remote host that indicates the connection has been successfully made, and the remote host is waiting for a command. This is usually the command prompt for the specified operating system user on the remote machine.

Timeout

The length of time (in seconds) that the Windows Client will wait between the connection attempt starting, and the text defined in the Command Prompt field being displayed after a successful login. If this time is exceeded, the Windows Client will display a telnet window for a manual login attempt.

Terminal Command

The command line for the terminal emulation program you are using to connect into the remote host. Usually this is a telnet client program.

Server Port

The port on which the remote host is listening for a Client connection. This is usually 23 for a telnet connection. An SSL connection (a more secure connection using encryption) may use a different port.

Use Secure Connection

If you want to make an SSL connection and your remote host supports it, check this box.

Use Binary Telnet

Check this box if the remote host needs to negotiate the telnet connection in binary mode. Your remote hosts’ system administrator should be able to provide assistance.
