Accessing Networked Printers
The PROIV NT Server service, by default, runs under the Local System account, as do all NT Services. For security reasons, the Local System account does not normally allow access to the network. Consequently, attempting to access networked printers can result in a security permissions failure, resulting in an error: 140 Error in Opening Print File.
To avoid security permissions failure, change the NT account that the PROIV Server Service uses. Create a new NT user account on the Server machine, and change the service settings.
-
Use the Control Panel | Services tool.
-
Select PROIV NT Server, click-on Startup…
-
Check This Account and type in the user account name you created, with the correct password.
-
After changing the service account and password, you must Stop and then Start the PROIV NT Server from the previous screen before the changes take effect (or reboot the machine).
