For files that are not in PROISAM or RMS Internal formats, the Storage tab is available for you to specify how the data variables are physically stored in the file or database system.

  1. Select an external type from the combo box in the Ext. Type column.

  2. For relational database type files (for example, MySQL), you can specify an Alternate Name.

    The field is referenced by the variable name within PROIV, but on the MySQL database it is referenced by the Alternate Name, which is the MySQL column name.

    It is necessary to specify an Alternate Name if the PROIV variable name contains any characters that are illegal in MySQL.
