Splitting a Recording |
PROIV Assure |
Recordings comprise a complete PROIV Session from the connection to logoff and they often consist of discrete sections: logon, navigation, and an application task and session logoff. You may want to save the discrete elements as separate Recordings and reuse the common sections (logon and logoff) in a variety of Tests, while keeping the specific application tasks separate.
The Split Recording functionality provides the ability to split Recordings into reusable smaller recordings. The original Recording remains intact, while the newly created fragments become separate, reusable Recordings in their own right.
To split a Recording, you must initially select a Recording, unless a Recording already has focus in which case that Recording is used. The Recording displays in the browser window in PROIV Assure Console. You can use the Step and Step 10 s to move to where you want the split to start and click the Start Split . When appropriate, click the End Split to end the Splitting process. If you step past the end of the original Recording, this is the same as clicking the End Split at the end of the Recording. When you click the End Split , you are prompted to enter a name for the new Recording. If the name already exists, you can choose to overwrite it, change the name or abort the operation. Similarly, if you step to the end of the Recording, you are also prompted for a Recording name in order to capture the end of the session. The newly created Recordings are displayed in the Recordings view. You can exit the splitting process at any point, but if you have started a split, the fragment is deleted and the process is aborted.
