The Application Definitions File is used by the Windows Client.  It contains font, color, and client-side logical filename mappings.  There can be more than one application definitions file on a Windows Client machine, and the one in use is determined by the setting inside the active Windows Client ".piv" file.  The file can have any legal name and can reside in any directory.

Contents of an Application Definitions File

An Application Definitions file has up to three main sections:

Each section starts with a section name in square brackets and extends to either the beginning of the next section or the end of the file.  Within each section there are one or more name = value lines, which define the mapping of a logical name to a physical name or value.

Lines starting with a semicolon (“ ; “) are treated as comments and ignored by the Windows Client.
