File Verbs

File Verbs are Logic Verbs which perform file access operations.

There are two types of File Verbs:

Internal File Verbs

Internal File Verbs access the internal files of PROIV. They function with the PROIV internal format (PROISAM or RMS) and SEQ / BIN data files.

Warning: Internal File Verbs do not function with relational database file types such as CISAM.

File access adheres to the following constraints:

File protection/concurrency issues are the responsibility of the underlying operating system.
All the file operation verbs are logged in system logs on all platforms, thereby providing an audit trail of when and who did what, to which file.
