PROIV User Interface Modes

PROIV uses two user interface modes: GUI mode and Character mode. The following table defines these modes and the terms by which this document identifies them.

Mode

Description

GUI mode

A Windows-like user interface display with keyboard and mouse control of GUI objects such as icons, and radios.

Note: Kernel resides on Windows/Unix, and kernel connection is to a PROIV Windows Client on a Windows workstation.

Character (green screen) mode

A user interface terminal display of characters only with data entry limited to keyboard control.

Note: Kernel resides on Windows/Unix, and kernel connection is to a dumb terminal or to a workstation terminal emulator (possibly running Telnet).

PROIV distinguishes between two GUI Client products. In certain cases, a particular function or feature may only be available on a particular GUI Client.
