The isout utility copies the data records from one or more selected database files to a sequential file that it creates. This sequential file may be moved to another system via disk, tape; or commonly available file transfer or communication packages (using a binary/no translation option). Used in conjunction with isin, you can use isout to move selected database files from one system to another of a different type, for example, PC to RS6000. To move files from one system to another system of the same type, for example, PC to PC, it is not necessary to use isou––PROIV indexed files can be transferred directly.
