The File menu allows you to create or open archive files.  You may also select and open an existing file from the Most Recently Used list.  You can also exit ISARCH from this menu.

New Archive

New Archive allows you to create an empty archive file.  A check box, labeled Old Format, appears in the lower left corner of the dialog box.  This check box is selected when creating a new archive in the PROIV Version 1.5/2.0/2.2 format.  By default the check box is blank.  Clicking on the check box is the equivalent to the -o option from ISOUT.

New Archive Window

The dialog box displays default file types of ".out" and ".seq".  The user may select an existing file or enter a filename in the edit box.  If an existing file is selected, ISARCH displays a message confirming that the file is to be overwritten.

Open Archive

Open Archive allows you to open an existing archive file.  The default file types ".out" and ".seq" are displayed.  You may select a file from the list or enter a file name in the edit box.  If a non- PROIV file or a file name that does not exist is entered, ISARCH displays an error message.

Open Archive Menu

When you select a PROIV archive file, the file is opened and the table of contents is loaded and displayed.  Note that older versions of PROIV archive files do not contain a table of contents.  In this case, a table of contents is generated from the file headers.  The file name, key length, minimum record size, maximum record size, number of keys, and number of records are displayed in the isarch window a shown in the figure below.
