The PROIV Client uses a generic telnet connection to connect to Unix and then starts the PROIV Virtual Machine. A secure (encrypted) connection can also be established using SSL on a port agreed upon between the PROIV Virtual Machine and the PROIV Windows Client.

Considerations

  • If a PROIV Virtual Machine is running as a service, the PROIV Client must connect to it and perform a login.

  • If a PROIV Virtual Machine is not run as a service, the PROIV Client must connect to the machine where the kernel is to run, perform any machine specific login sequences, and run the PROIV Virtual Machine on that machine using the appropriate options.
