Unconditional Shutdown allows the user to disconnect from the PROIV Virtual Machine when it does not respond.  This could, however, inadvertently corrupt data files by disconnecting in the middle of a transaction.

The PROIV Client improves how this type of abnormal condition is handled.  When a shutdown is requested in any of the normal ways (for example, the Close ), the PROIV Client notifies the kernel of the request.  If the kernel does not respond within the time-out period specified in the Application property sheet, the PROIV Client displays a Shutdown Timeout dialog box (shown below) that allows the user to continue waiting for the kernel response, cancel the shutdown request, or to shutdown unconditionally.
