- Session Connection Settings

The Connection option enables you to define connection details for the session. The fields displayed are determined by the PROIV Virtual Machine Server Platform selected on the General option.

Select the General option and select the appropriate PROIV Virtual Machine Server Platform.
Select the Connection option.
Amend the details in the appropriate fields.

Click Apply to save the changes.

Microsoft Windows Server Connection Settings
PROIV Hostname or IP Address	Enter the details of the Virtual Machine host name or the IP address. If you are working locally, enter localhost in this field.
PROIV User Name	Enter the user name for a successful login. During the kernel connection phase to a Windows kernel, this field is used to identify a USER name that has been configured in the PROIV Dashboard. If no match is found for the supplied name, then the kernel will attempt a transparent logon using the supplied name as the PROIV operator name. To connect using a configuration other than 'base-default' alternatively or additionally enter a comma followed by the configuration name and profile required. e.g ',myConfig-myProfile' or 'myUser,myConfig-myProfile'
PROIV Password	Enter the password required for a successful login.
Remember Username and password	Check the box to ensure that the user name and password details are remembered.
Prompt for Security	Check the box if you want a security prompt to display during the login process to the host.
Advanced Settings
Connection Timeout in seconds	The time in seconds to wait for a successful connection to a PROIV Virtual Machine before displaying a telnet window for manual login. Defaults to 10 seconds.
Terminal Command	The command line for the terminal emulation program you are using to connect into the remote host. Usually this is a telnet client program.
Server Port	The port on which the remote host is listening for a client connection.
Standard TCP connection	The connection to the host is via TCP/IP. This is the default connection.
Secure Connection	If you want to make an SSL connection and your remote host supports it, check this box.

Unix Server Connection Settings
PROIV Hostname or IP Address	Enter the details of the Virtual Machine host name or the IP address. If you are working locally, enter localhost in this field.
Commands to run PROIV Virtual Machine	After a successful log, you can specify to run shell scripts on the Unix host. Enter the full path to the file containing the connection scripts.
Unix User Name	Enter the user name for a successful login.
Unix Password	Enter the password for a successful login.
Remember Username and Password	Check the box to ensure that the user name and password details are remembered.
Prompt for Security	Select this check box to enable the PROIV Client to prompt the user for user name and password at connection. Selecting the Remember Username/Password check box eliminates having to re-enter the user name and password.
Advanced Settings	These parameters allow you to specify the strings to search for before transmitting the user name and password, the command prompt to wait for before sending the startup command to the host, and the timeout value (in seconds) to wait before generating a time-out warning.
Terminal Command	The command line for the terminal emulation program you are using to connect into the remote host.
Command Parameters	Enter the command line parameters that need to be passed to the terminal emulator when used for connecting to a host. You may enter the location of an automated log-in script (if the third party software allows it). Any parameters using a third party executable may be entered in this field. See the user documentation for the terminal emulation software you are using for more information.
User Prompt	The text displayed by the remote host when asking a user to log into the operating system. This is the text that would be seen if a user manually connected into that machine using the program or script entered into the Terminal Command field, before the user would enter their user name.
Password Prompt	The text displayed by the remote host, used to ask the user to enter their operating system user password.
Server Port	The port on which the remote host is listening for a client connection.
Terminal Window Title	Enter the text that you would like to see in the window title area of the PROIV Client. This field is optional; the text you enter will appear after a connection is made. See Locating a Valid Telnet Session Window for additional information.
Command Line Prompt	The text displayed by the remote host that indicates the connection has been successfully made, and the remote host is waiting for a command. This is usually the command prompt for the specified operating system user on the remote machine.
Login via Terminal	This option invokes a telnet terminal emulator program to allow the user to login.
Connection Timeout in Seconds	The time in seconds to wait for a successful connection to a PROIV Virtual Machine. Defaults to 10 seconds.
Use Binary Telnet	Check this box if the remote host needs to negotiate the telnet connection in binary mode. Your remote host’s system administrator should be able to provide assistance.
Terminal Type	Terminal type that is presented to the host telnet service. For example, for an IBM 3270 model 2 terminal, use IBM3270-2.
Standard TCP Connection	The connection to the host is via TCP/IP. This is the default connection.
Secure Connection	If you want to make an SSL connection and your remote host supports it, check this box.
Connect via SSH tunnel	Enforces a Secure Shell connection to the host.
