You can launch the PROIV Client and connect to the PROIV Virtual Machine using one of the following methods:

  • Run the PROIV Client without command line arguments This causes the PROIV Client to create a new session. A session is defined as a connection of the PROIV Client to the PROIV Virtual Machine.  Once the Client is running, you can connect to the host by executing the Connect command from the Client’s menu or toolbar.

  • Run the PROIV Client with the file having the default filename .PIV, which contain options from a previously saved PROIV Client session. The PROIV Client provides the interface specified in the saved session.  The Client automatically connects to the specified host if the User Configuration check box in the Application property sheet is selected, or if the parameter 'u' (user configuration mode) in the .PIV file is set to 1.

    If the User Configuration check box in the Application property sheet is not selected, or if the parameter “u? in the .PIV file is set to 0, use one of the following methods:

    1. Execute the Connect command from the Client’s Session menu or toolbar, or. . .

    2. Select a saved session from the Client’s Session menu.

  • Run the PROIV Client from the Windows Desktop or Windows Explorer. Simply double-click on a saved PROIV session file. A new instance of the PROIV Client is launched and the session is established as described above.

  • Run the PROIV Client from the Windows Desktop or Windows Explorer. Drag a saved PROIV session file icon onto a running PROIV Client or PROIV Client icon. A new instance of the PROIV Client is launched and the session is established as described above.
