&#@GUI-MODE is not set in a task until the first screen output occurs. If you need to run one screen function for a green screen client and another for a GUI client, you cannot decide which function to run based on the value of &#@GUI-MODE. The solution is to set the GUI environment variable in the [Environment] section of the kernel configuration file to the correct value (you may need to set up different environment names for use by green screen users and GUI client users), and test the setting by checking &#@~GUI in logic.
