Purpose

WIDEVAL converts data from either alphanumeric or numeric to wide.
 

Syntax

WIDEVAL (operand)
 

Operator

Operand is any valid alphanumeric or numeric constant, variable, or expression.
 

Remarks

If operand is a valid numeric constant or variable the result is a wide character representing the external display form of the value of operand

If the value is negative, a leading sign appears.

Use WIDEPIC if the numeric has a fractional part.  

If the operand is an alphanumeric string, the result is a wide character string representation of operand.
