Any dynamic (data bound variable) control may be added from the Control Palette to an existing form. There are two methods: Select and Place or Drag and Drop.  Because a control must also be added into an existing position in a subform, you must select a control in the Subform Browser prior to adding the new control to a form.

  1. Begin by activating the Control Palette from the Workspace toolbar and selecting the Dynamic tab.

  2. Determine which subform (LS) should contain the new control and where the new control should be inserted in that subforms dynamic control sequence.

  3. Select the control after which the new control will be inserted. If there are no dynamic controls for the targeted subform, select the dynamic node itself.  If a control or the Dynamic Node is not selected, the new control is appended as the last control on the last subform that has a Dynamic Node.  If no Dynamic Node is found in the current form, a search is made through the function structure until one is found and the control is inserted.  If no Dynamic Control is found in the function, one is inserted in the current subform and the new control inserted after it.

  4. Select the desired dynamic control from the control palette and move the mouse to the position on the form where the new control is to reside.

  5. Insert the control onto the form surface by holding the left mouse down and dragging the control to the desired size.  This action anchors the control on the form at the current position.  It also automatically inserts the new control after the previous control selected in the subform browser.

  6. Drag the desired Dynamic Control from the Control Palette and drop it at the form position desired as shown in the screen examples below.

This action anchors the control on the form at the current position.  It also automatically inserts the new controls after the previous control selected in the subform browser

Inserting a Control (Paste)

One or more controls may also be added to a form by inserting (pasting) them from a previous copy or cut operation.  In this case, the copied or cut control set follows the insertion strategy mechanism and all of the BPSL properties for the control set are propagated in the new target form.  In general, all controls are inserted after the control on the target form that is selected prior to the paste operation.

All Add operations may be undone using the Undo toolbar, menu item or CTRL+Z.
