PROIV can create C-ISAM files with multiple indexes when the file definition facility is used. A C-ISAM indexed file is made up of two files, one with the extension .DAT and the other with the extension .IDX.  To avoid multiple suffixes, it is recommended that the alternate file name specified does not contain an extension.

When the record size or the indexes for an existing file are changed, the file must be deleted before the replacement can be created. This can be accomplished using the standard operating system facilities.
