- Running the Bulk Manipulation Tool

Once all of the tool’s actions and criteria have been specified, return the cursor to the action line number if editing a record, and then click the Next .

This will display the Run Options dialogue.

Here, the following options are available:

Backup Main Object Before Processing? - When this option is checked, the tool engine will automatically make backups of each list object processed.

To save disk space and time, the backup will only occur if any attribute was actually altered against a child object/group. If no net changes are made then a backup will not be taken.

It is recommended that the Backup option is always checked as should the tool encounter an error, or the list object is rejected part way through processing, then the object will be restored to its original state from its backup.

Print an Audit of Changes? - When this option is checked, a report of all list items rejected and processed will be sent to the default printer. The audit also includes all change details with before and after values of the attributes altered.

The audit can be large even for one object.
The Project Administrator may like to consider redirecting the report away from the default printer by setting the Spool settings for the audit report, @VIPR331.
