Object Security Tool |

The purpose of this Object Security tool is to enable you to change security data for any number of major objects (i.e. Functions, Global Logics and File Definitions) without the need to open them for edit. The standard booking and locking checks are performed when a change to an object is about to be committed. If the change is blocked then a warning message appears. All changes are logged and are shown in the History tab.
To open the Object Security window, follow these steps:

On the main PROIV screen, select the Tools tab.

Select the List Based Tools tab.

In the General Tools section, click the Object Security icon.

The Change Object Security window appears.

Select the Object Type from the Object Type drop-down list and select the relevant object from the Object drop-down list.
In Object Selection section, you can enter either the full or partial name of the object that you want to add security to. You can change the Object Type from the Object Type drop-down list. You can also select objects from a List using the List drop-down list. Click icon to toggle between Saved Lists and Work Lists. You can create complex object selections by clicking the Advanced which displays the Select objects for security changes window. Clicking the Save As List saves your object selection as a list for reuse. The Reselect resets the search criteria.
The fields for each Object Type is as follows:

Function Name |
Displays the function name. |

Function Title |
Displays the function title. |
Category |
Select the security category from the drop-down list. (A warning message appears if you select a category that is invalid for your logged on User ID). |
Level |
Enter the appropriate security level (0 – 9). |
Security Link |
Select the function executed if there is a breach of security. Click ... to display Function Selection window to locate the appropriate function. |
Password |
Enter the password that is required each time the function is executed. Note that the field is greyed out for Global Functions as they could be called from locations where it is not appropriate to request a password, i.e. by the PROIV Gateway or within loops. |

Category |

Levels |
Enter the appropriate security level (0 – 9) for each File Access Mode (Add, Change, Delete, Lookup). |
Encryption key |
Enter key details if the file data must be encrypted. |
Code Set |
Enter if the data needs to be stored in a different codeset. |
All security data for all object types is optional. |
