PROIV Logic may be thought of as a subroutines that are called at fixed process points to augment the standard PROIV processing cycle. You can assign any logic to any process point.

Logic allows you to:

  • Perform mathematical calculations, string manipulations, and data initialization.

  • Validate input data and act on the result.

  • Display user-defined error and information messages.

  • Set up record selection criteria.

  • Indicate exceptions to the standard processing flow.

The function name and logic ID number (001-999) identify a unique local logic routine (i.e. logic ID 001 in function CUST and logic ID 001 in function INV are different).

Expressions are a symbol or a group of symbols that PROIV can evaluate.

Logic Types groups the logic commands to make it easier for you to find the command that you need.

Global Logic provides a general subroutine capability for use with Local Logic processing.

Link Logic allows you to interface to programs developed in other languages.

Logic Commands gives details of all the logic commands available.

Value Variables provide various processing options that are enabled and disabled by logic commands.

Logic Editor explains how to use the Logic Editor.

File Verbs explains how to use File Verbs with PROIV internal files and operating system files.
