The Terminal Settings option enables you to define the interface between the PROIV Client and the mainframe host.  You can specify general terminal properties which are stored when you save or create a PIV file from the main menu or toolbar option.

To configure terminal settings:

  1. Click Terminal.

  2. Amend the details in the appropriate fields

Command

Enter the program name of the terminal emulation software you are using.  For example, C:\Program Files\qws3270Plus\qws3270p.exe. (This is a program name for a terminal emulation program called QWS Plus.)

Additional Parameters for Terminal Login

Enter the command line parameters that need to be passed to the terminal emulator when used for connecting to a host.  You may enter the location of an automated log-in script (if the third party software allows it).  Any parameters using a third party executable may be entered in this field.  See the user documentation for the terminal emulation software you are using for more information.

Window Title

Enter the text that you would like to see in the window title area of the PROIV Client.  This field is optional; the text you enter will appear after a connection is made. See Locating a Valid Telnet Session Window for additional information.

Terminal Type Presented to Host

Enter the terminal type that is presented to the host telnet service.  For example, for an IBM 3270 model 2 terminal, use IBM3270-2.

If you are using a script for the QWS Plus application, add "-z" to the front-end of the parameter string, for example:

zIBM-3278g.

Port

Enter the port address that the third party 3270 terminal emulation software. This is used to communicate with the PROIV Client. The default port number is 24.

  1. Click Apply to save the changes.

  2. Click OK to close the window.
