PROIV separates data encoding into three layers: (1) Display, (2) Processing and (3) Data Storage. By employing either a native language driver or a third party input server, PROIV is able to support almost every language. Data handled internally can be stored into every support file and database environment in every codeset except Unicode.
Figure 2. Codeset Architecture (Unix, Windows)
With introduction of display, processing, and storage codeset support, a PROIV application can handle most languages in a consistent, machine independent format. This mapping covers all language dependent components where text must be defined, such as, format prompts, help messages, system messages, keyboards, value variables, literals, Global Logics, and standard text.
