PROIV User Interface Modes |
DEVELOPER |
PROIV uses two user interface modes: GUI mode and Character mode. Both are available in buffered or non-buffered operation. The following table defines these modes and the terms by which this document identifies them.
Mode |
Description |
GUI mode |
A Windows-like user interface display with keyboard and mouse control of GUI objects such as icons, and radios. Includes buffered GUI mode and non-buffered GUI mode as described in the following section. Note: Kernel resides on Windows/Unix, and kernel connection is to a PROIV Windows Client on a Windows workstation. |
Character (green screen) mode |
A user interface terminal display of characters only with data entry limited to keyboard control. Includes buffered Character mode and non-buffered Character mode as described in the following section. Note: Kernel resides on Windows/Unix, and kernel connection is to a dumb terminal or to a workstation terminal emulator (possibly running Telnet). |
PROIV distinguishes between two GUI Client products. In certain cases, a particular function or feature may only be available on a particular GUI Client.
The term 'GUI Client' encompasses the PROIV Windows Client and the PROIV Windows Client OCX.
The term 'Windows Client' encompasses the PROIV Windows Client in its standalone and OCX modes.
PROIV products work with OpenClient and MFC(Windows) Client.
PROIV Administrator works in both OpenClient and MFC(Windows) Client.
PROIV Developer fully works in MFC apart from some PROIV Assure features.
PROIV Developer features work in OC and all of PROIV Assure. PROIV Aurora works in its own 'client' and not supported by OpenClient/MFC(Windows) Client.
