Transferring Data between a Workstation and the Open Client Server |
Open Client Administration |
The PROIV Client when running on Microsoft Windows allows a PROIV application to upload files directly from your workstation. Due to browser security, this is not possible in the PROIV Open Client.
When a PROIV application requests a specific file from the PROIV Open Client, a window displays prompting you to select the appropriate file to upload. Any file and folder information supplied by the application is ignored, you must select the file from the file system, and the file is uploaded when the Upload is clicked.
Note: This behaviour is different from the PROIV Windows Client in two ways: it is not transparent process, and you must locate the correct file and authorise the upload. |
When a PROIV application makes a request to place a file on your workstation, PROIV Open Client treats this as a normal browser download in a new browser window. A window displays prompting you to choose where to save the file. You can choose to open the file with a local program, or save the file to the file system. If the downloaded file is one that the browser can display (e.g. HTML or text), it appears without showing any further user dialogues.
Note: This behaviour is different from the PROIV Windows Client in two ways: it is not a transparent process, and you must decide what to do with the file. |
