Reality items (records), excluding the item-ID (key), are arranged in attributes, values, and subvalues using reserved delimiter characters (ASCII code values 254, 253, and 252 respectively). An attribute can contain multiple values and a value can contain multiple subvalues. All can be of variable length.
When defining a Reality file in PROIV, an attribute can be treated as a simple field, an array, Group Start and Group End, or a Subfile (Redefines are not supported).
In an array, each value in the attribute is treated as an array element (field). In a Group Start and Group End, each value is treated as a simple field in one of the groups.
For a Subfile, each value is treated as a subrecord and within a subrecord, each subvalue is treated as a simple field.
Subfile contents can be accessed only by creating a separate definition for the Subfile.
Reality files cannot be created from in PROIV.
To create a Subfile, set the Type attribute to S in the File Definition on the Editing File Definition window. For more information, click here.
