PROIV Developer requires that each developer have a uniquely defined logon into PROIV. The defaults of PTI SYS SYS or MDC SYS SYS are defined in PROIV Developer as administrators for the default project. If you are to develop as the sole user it should be fine to use these but for multi-user sites you must create users with a function security category of BOOT level 9. Users are company independent within PROIV Developer i.e. MDC SYS would be the same developer as PTI SYS.
The initial screen displayed by PROIV Developer will show the Toolbar with only a few items active. Select the administration or the Admin option on the PROIV Developer drop down menu and you will be presented with a tabbed screen displaying the Projects View. This lists all of the projects defined to PROIV Developer, initially this will show only Default Project 1.0 that is active and will permit objects to be booked out against it.
If you do not want to create and manage project-based development, leave this project active with no end date and use for all development activities. If required you may create new projects here to provide a segmented development model. The Project Details will allow you to change Project information and, more importantly the Project members list. Only members of a project, be they an individual developer or groups of developers, will be permitted to open objects and use activity options. To add new developers or groups to a project, select the members tab.
Activity options are provided for Administration, Dictionary maintenance, Import, Export as well as the editing of Functions, Files, Global Logics and Tasks. These options are tested on an aggregated basis i.e. a developer may be the member of a group without export permission but as an individual have permission and so be granted access to the facility.
The exclusive objects area provides the facility to allocate objects to a specific project only and should only be used where protection of code is required from general development.
The administrator groups tab is where developers are created and maintained and optionally assigned to a group. A developer can be a member of multiple groups allowing for different access rights within a project.
The other tabs provided for project based and general tools are covered in more detail in System Administration.
